康乐里小学位于北京市中心，天安门广场向西两公里处，是一所公立寄宿制小学，成立于1950年。目前，学校有34个教学班，1200余名学生，其中有500名学生寄宿。全校教职员工110人。刁立春女士担任学校校长，学校共有管理干部11人。
康乐里小学占地面积8000多平方米，建筑面积13000多平方米。学校的塑胶操场是学生们体育训练和游戏的场所;校阅览室藏书5万册;每个教学班都有班级教室，另外还有十几个专用教室，如音乐、书法、美术、计算机等教室;学校新建成的校园网，可以使教师办公室、教室、计算机房、教师电子备课室的100 多台电脑同时联网;为丰富学生课余生活，寄宿部还专设了棋牌室、钢琴室、乒乓球室、沙狐球室、台球室、波比足球室。
学校开设了语文、数学、英语、音乐、体育、美术、书法、科学、计算机、品德与生活等课程，学生每周课时26节左右。1--3年级学生参加了北京师范大学的“攀登英语”学习实验。另外，学校还成立了航模、田径、绘画、手工制作、环保等课外活动小组三十多个。学校的篮球队、少年合唱团的活动很有特色，在市区竞赛中取得了优异的成绩。学校经常开展爱国教育和思想道德教育，同时帮助学生在日常学习生活中养成良好的行为习惯。

INTRODUCTION
Established in 1950, and situated in center of Beijing ( 2 km. west of the Tiananmen Square), the Kangleli Primary School is a boarding school with a staff of 120 teachers and other personnel, and a total of over 1,300 pupils ( 500 of whom are boarders ), divided into 33 classes.
With a land area of over 8,000 m2 and a floor space of more than 13,000 m2, Kangleli boasts a plastic sports ground for its pupils’ physical training and play, a reading room equipped with 50,000 books, a classroom for each individual class, and over ten classrooms for such special uses as music, calligraphy, fine arts, and computers. The Internet newly set up on the campus offers simultaneous communication between teachers’ offices, classrooms, the computer room, and the E-office for preparation of teaching plans. To enrich extracurricular activities, the Boarding Department provides facilities like rooms for chess, poker, piano, ping-pong, billiards, and other indoor ball games.
The subjects offered at Kangleli include Chinese, mathematics, English, music, physical education, fine arts, calligraphy, sciences, computer operation, moral education, and fundamentals of everyday life, with a required pupil attendance of about 26 periods a week. In addition, 31 of our classes participate in “English Climbing”---a learning experiment initiated by the BeijingNormalUniversity. Furthermore, there are over twenty groups for such extracurricular activities as airplane models, fields & tracks, painting, handcraft, and environmental protection. The basketball team and the youngsters’ ensemble of Kangleli, thanks to their distinguishing features, have achieved striking successes in municipal and district contests. In the meantime, patriotic and moral education remains a constant program at Kangleli. Accompanied by assistance in cultivating proper behavior of the pupils in their learning and daily life.
